340 new cases of COVID-19 in Quebec

Quebec reported 340 new cases of COVID-19 and four additional deaths on Tuesday.

Of the new cases, 193 were people who had not been vaccinated or received a single dose less than 14 days ago, eight had only received a single dose at least two weeks ago, and 139 had received a second dose at least seven days ago.

The province’s death toll is now 423,335 people infected since the start of the pandemic and 11,481 deaths.

The number of hospitalizations remained stable at 259. Of these patients, 66 are in intensive care, down from three.

Sixteen people entered the hospital on Monday. Ten of them were not vaccinated or had only received a single dose less than 14 days ago and six had received a second dose at least seven days ago. The two people who entered intensive care were either unvaccinated or had only received a single dose less than 14 days ago.

A total of 20,962 samples were taken on October 24.

Regarding vaccination, 8,464 doses were administered in the last 24 hours in Quebec, for a total of 13,184,753. Outside the province, 214,357 doses were received by Quebecers.

According to the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec, 79.2% of the population has received at least one dose of vaccine against COVID-19. Among those 12 years and older, 90.4% have received at least one dose and 87.6% are adequately vaccinated.
