No less than 332,252 new cases of contamination have been reported over the past 24 hours, according to figures communicated by Public Health France on Wednesday January 5. That is 198,200 cases per day on average over the last seven days. Like the day before, Olivier Véran had announced the trend from the National Assembly. As of Tuesday, 271,686 people tested positive, against 232,000 at the time of the previous record, on December 31.

Hospitals continue to receive an increasing number of patients, with 2,483 new hospitalizations in 24 hours, or 1,875 new hospitalizations per day on average over the last seven days. In intensive care and intensive care, there are currently 3,695 patients.
