Thirty-three migrants were found in a truck intercepted by the gendarmes on the afternoon of Friday December 30, 2022 in the town of Avançon in the Hautes-Alpes, according to the Hautes-Alpes prefecture, confirming information from BFM FROM HERE. The driver who fled is wanted by the Gap gendarmerie.
Contacted by telephone, Florent Chrouhy, public prosecutor of Gap specified that “a preliminary investigation has been opened by the Gap public prosecutor’s office for aiding the illegal entry, stay and movement of foreigners”.
In the process, an accommodation system to accommodate these migrants was set up by the municipality of Chorges in their village hall. 40 beds and blankets have been made available by the town hall.
The Red Cross was commissioned to manage the supervision of this shelter with the distribution of soup and coffee.
According to the Hautes-Alpes Prefecture, there are 33 refugees of Afghan, Pakistani and Indian origin “in an irregular situation”.
The prefecture indicated that all the people were heard “in hearing under the regime of administrative restraint”.
