A fifth week without “Sunday newspaper” on newsstands, this Sunday, July 23. The editorial staff massively renewed its strike against the arrival at the head of the weekly of Geoffroy Lejeune, the former director of “Current Values”, marked on the far right.

For a few weeks now, he has disappeared from newsstands. For the fifth weekend in a row, the “Sunday Journal” did not appear this Sunday, July 23, due to a strike by almost all of the editorial staff. The employees are protesting against the arrival of Geoffroy Lejeune, former boss of “Current Values”, at the head of the editorial staff.

Journalist classified on the far right, support of Éric Zemmour during the last presidential election, his CV which makes the journalists of the editorial staff fear a change of editorial line. “With the appointment of Geoffroy Lejeune, the ‘Journal du dimanche’ can only become an opinion newspaper, and not just any opinion”believes Bertrand Grécot, co-president of the Society of Journalists of the JDD.

Fear of a change in editorial line

Monday July 24, the employees of the JDD will be on strike for the 32e consecutive day. They thus exceed the movement of 2016 at I-télé after the takeover of the channel, already, by Vincent Bolloré. But this longevity is expensive. For its part, the management of the Lagardère group refused our interview requests. A few days ago, Arnaud Lagardère estimated “that the fantasy of the far right which invited itself to the JDD was not real.”
