308 million from Ottawa for nearly 1,600 affordable housing units

The federal government announces funding of $308 million for the construction of housing dedicated to vulnerable people.


Thanks to this amount, 54 housing projects totaling 1,581 social and affordable housing units will be built and distributed throughout Quebec.

Women fleeing violence, seniors, recent immigrants, First Nations people and people with disabilities are some of the communities targeted by this project.

A minimum of $57 million will be invested in each of the largest municipalities in the province such as Quebec City, Montreal, Laval, Longueuil and Gatineau.

This sum is part of the third phase of the Canada-Quebec agreement concerning the rapid housing construction initiative.

The announcement was made in Laval by Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion, together with the Minister responsible for Housing of Quebec, France-Élaine Duranceau as well as Nicholas Borne, member of the executive committee. and vice-president of the Office municipal d’habitation de Laval.
