Her name is Estelle Mendy, she is 30 years old, she is 1.71 m tall, she is married and the mother of two daughters aged 3 and 8, and she suffers from vitiligo. And this young and pretty woman is among the 12 women who will compete this Saturday, October 28, 2023, in Caen, to succeed Perrine Prunier, Miss Normandy 2023.
“Vitiligo has become my strength”
On her Instagram account, the one who was born in Le Havre assures: “This human adventure will change my life forever, whatever the final outcome“. Regarding her status as a mother, which may seem incompatible with the crown of Miss France, she replies: “I am proud to be a mother and, believe me, no matter what anyone may think, my children have never been an obstacle to realizing my projects. Quite the contrary. I have never achieved so much my dreams since I gave birth”.
Concerning the autoimmune disease she suffers from (just like former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe or host Nathalie Simon), she has already explained in an interview with Au Féminin magazine: “Vitiligo has become my strength, my daily battle. Through my social networks, I want to show self-acceptance.” And adds that she takes her fellow model Winnie Harlow as a role model – “her personality inspired me a lot”.
Committed to school bullying
Like her competitors, Estelle Mendy has a project in mind for this election. On her Instagram account, the one whose profile was selected from 60 women reveals: “My dream? You represent. Represent our Normandy, apply its values in all its forms. Defend this cause which is particularly close to my heart and which affects us all, it is school bullying which has become a real scourge in our country, Unprecedented tragedies are piling up.”
