The Île de Rhinau nature reserve, managed by the Conservatoire d’Espaces Naturels d’Alsace (CENA) and nicknamed the Little Amazon, is one of the most representative sites of the Rhine alluvial forest.
The lush vegetation is only rivaled by the great animal biodiversity in this area 10 km long and 500 m wide at most.
Classified as a protected area in 1991, the 30th anniversary will be celebrated on May 22.
