29 drinks from here to enjoy sobriety

This text is part of the special Pleasures notebook

February rhymes with sobriety for all those who will soon participate in the Jean Lapointe Foundation’s 28 Day Alcohol-Free Challenge. In addition to raising funds to support the organization’s mission, namely the prevention and treatment of addictions, the Challenge is an opportunity to test a different mode of consumption and to discover products not alcoholic proudly made in Quebec. Here are 29 suggestions (leap year required!) for non-alcoholic drinks.

1. BSA – rosé wine cocktail

A new feature at Bière Sans Alcool (BSA): piquette-style cocktails with a rosé wine flavor. The result is a fruity, slightly tannic drink, which is drunk very cold (and very quickly!).

2. Bockale – Tropic

A pioneer in the field of non-alcoholic beers, the Bockale microbrewery has given its cans a makeover, but its vintages remain the same. To (re)discover: Tropic, a very successful fruity white wine, with aromas of clementine and lychee.

3. Fine soda – haskap and balsam fir

This is a soda with a very mild boreal taste, with a hint of acidity, which is good to drink alone or which is perfect to accompany a cocktail (without alcohol) of your choice.

4. NOA – espresso martini with amaretto

Monsieur Cocktail has developed an alcohol-free version of the very popular espresso martini. There is the good taste of freshly brewed coffee as well as a light foam characteristic of a well-shaken cocktail.

5. MOX – Mox 3

This non-sparkling mocktail with the taste of vodka, Campari, cranberry and cardamom is elegant and full of finesse. In addition, it is made 100% with natural ingredients.

6. LAO – Gyokura Okabe bubble tea

This sparkling drink made from the prestigious Japanese Gyokura tea releases sweet aromas of tropical fruits and tastes of peach, pear and honeydew melon.

7. Harrington – apple and sweet clover tonic cocktail

A great alternative to sugary cocktails, this soda with local flavors – apple and sweet clover, also called boreal vanilla – contains no added sugar.

8. La Barberie – Placebo Rousse

A red beer whose taste, color and smell are faithful to its alcoholic version.

9. Bedford Cie – rhubarb and basil carbonated water

Fine bubbles and natural flavors of fruit and fresh herbs are sometimes all it takes to quench your thirst. No added sugar or salt.

10. KWE Cocktails – Sumacade Sparkling Lemonade

Two local aromatics — wild mint and sumac — combine perfectly with the acidity of lemon in this revisited version of lemonade.

11. Cidrerie du Minot – sparkling apple must

This sparkling apple juice, made with premium fruits, has a very refreshing acidity, and its aromas are intense and tasty.

12. Sober Carpenter – Black IPA

Limited edition brew. This beer looks like a stout, smells like an IPA, and tastes like dark malt and lemony hops. All without alcohol, of course!

13. Noroi Distillerie – Mojito Havana

It’s everything we love about the classic mint cocktail, but with a touch of juicy raspberries.

14. BluePearl Distillery – Jardin Verde gin and tonic zero

A vegan ready-to-drink, low in sugar and with a good taste of cucumber and basil.

15. Maison Théier – White green tea crémant

Tea infused with Laurentian spring water and fermented with Anicet honey: this tea-based sparkling wine is highly refined.

16. Verger Hemmingford – Spritzöl .5

This cider-based cocktail perfectly combines the bitterness of citrus fruits and the sweetness of apple.

17. 1642 – ginger beer

Here’s a sparkling drink with a bright taste of ginger and cardamom that makes a perfect base for a non-alcoholic Moscow Mule!

18. Romeo’s Gin – watermelon lime gin soda

This mocktail with a unique and super refreshing taste has nothing to envy of its alcoholic version.

19. Microbrasserie Vagabond – blonde Peace of mind

A blond beer with low bitterness, as light as it gets!

20. Statera – grapefruit mimosa

For a sober Sunday brunch, swap our classic mimosa for this alcohol-free version.

21. Gutsy – Adapt² Passion & Hibiscus

This sparkling drink made from fermented adaptogenic plants promises to help you unwind after a long day while quenching even the biggest thirsts.

22. Atypical – spiced rum and cola

Fans of the popular cocktail will not be disappointed with this alcohol-free version, as the flavors are so frank and intense.

23. Drav – Long Island Iced Tea

When the cocktail containing vodka, gin, tequila, rum and triple sec becomes sober, it results in this: a tasty drink with notes of vanilla, mint and fresh citrus.

24. BLUFF – margarita

A fruity, slightly saline drink, which tastes like the famous tequila-based cocktail.

25. Boreal beer – Radler Hors Sentiers

Nothing is more thirst-quenching than a non-alcoholic blonde to which a mixture of orange juice, grapefruit juice and blood orange juice has been added.

26. Appalaches Distillery – Alphonse gin

Labrador tea, elderflower, chamomile and linden pair perfectly with juniper berry in this non-alcoholic spirit.

27. Cidrerie Milton – Apple and strawberry ladybug

Impossible to resist this apple juice with a good dose of juicy Quebec strawberry juice.

28. Club Kombucha – Club Hops

All the benefits of kombucha, but with the great taste of Mosaic and Citra hops.

29. HP Juniper – Agave Tequila

A surprising proposition, whose taste closely resembles real tequila with a woody profile. Also a good substitute for mezcal in a non-alcoholic cocktail.
