A provisional report shows, Friday, May 3, 29 dead and 60 missing in Brazil, where the state of Rio Grande do Sul was hit by mudslides and terrible floods.

In Brazil, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, after days and nights of torrential rain, the damage is impressive. “My house is very close, I left like that”, says a woman. Heavy rains and mudslides hit the region. The power of the precipitation weakened a bridge which was completely swallowed up by the river after the appearance of a crack.
The worst climate disaster in Rio Grande do Sul
Rescues were complicated by strong winds. The helicopter is the only way to help the population. Firefighters evacuate entire villages. In all, more than 10,000 people were sheltered. “We don’t know what will happen. There is a lot of water right next to my house”, underlines a resident. Even hospitals are flooded.
