26th Cycling Tour from Périgord to Sarlat

Sunday August 28, 2022, Sarlat hosted the start of the 26th Tour Cycliste du Périgord. An organization of the Vélo Club Monpaziérois. A solitary breakaway by the runner from Douai, Léandre Hulk, almost joined by a group of 4 competitors, but winner after 148 kilometers of racing.

A winner who was not a favorite at the start

Léandre Huck, rider of the Entente Sportive des Enfants de Gayant de Douai won in 3h52 minutes, just ahead of his teammate, Martin Troux and ahead of Calum O’Connor, the rider of the Cyclo Club Périgueux Dordogne. He escaped alone and a group of pursuers were not far from recapturing him, but the latter kept a lead of ten seconds to win. The 132 runners divided into 22 teams had to cover a circuit of 13.520 kilometers to be crossed 11 times, or 148.720 kilometers. Léandre Huck is an unexpected winner, in a great race which took place in the heat, not far from 30 degrees. Another Périgord finished in tenth place. Léandre Huck succeeds Jean Goubert of the Nice Métropole Côte d’Azur on the winners of this Tour du Périgord.

Final classification of the French Cup for National 2 Clubs

This race counted for the fourth and last round of the Coupe de France des Clubs de National 2. The club of Douai, 12th and last before the race in Sarlat moved up to fifth place in the final. The Cyclo Club Périgueux Dordogne, which had failed at the foot of the podium last year, finished in a very good second place. For Jean-Louis Gauthier, organizing president of the Vélo Club Monpaziérois, this is a great season for the Périgord club. This race does not mark the end of the road season. The Périgord runners still have appointments, during this month of September, both in Dordogne and outside the department. Jean-Louis Gauthier tells us about it in Sport en Périgord.
