26 of the 27 victims have been identified, announces the Paris prosecutor’s office

A first victim, a 24-year-old Kurdish woman, was identified on November 27. Since Tuesday, December 14, we now know 26 of the 27 victims of the sinking of a migrant boat in the Channel on November 24, announced the Paris prosecutor’s office. The day after the tragedy, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, announced that aAn investigation was open, in particular for “homicides and involuntary injuries” and “criminal conspiracy”.

The prosecution details that among the victims were sixteen Kurdish people from Iraq, including four women aged 22 to 46, a 16-year-old teenager, a 7-year-old child and ten men aged 19 to 37. Also identified were a Kurdish man from Iran, three Ethiopians (two women aged 22 and 25 and a man aged 46), a Somali woman aged 33, four Afghan men aged 24 to 40 and an Egyptian man from 20 years.

No pregnant woman has been identified among the victims, specifies the prosecution, which adds that “27 burial permits, including one issued under X for the only unidentified person to date, have been issued”.
