250,000 euros per year, “it’s not a lot”, the composer of the music for “La Boum” is talking about money!

At 83, he rocked his incredible melodies all our childhood! Vladimir Cosma is indeed the creator of musical masterpieces accompanying incredible cult films: Le Grand Blond, Diva, La Boum, The Adventures of Rabbi Jacob, My Father’s Glory or An elephant cheats a lot… In sixty years of career, he has signed the music of the greatest successes of cinema and known the greatest directors and actors, such as Gérard Oury, Jean-Jacques Beineix, Claude Zidi or even Louis de Funès who has become a close friend. Guest on the set of TPMP People this Saturday, May 13, 2023, the man who continues to produce his orchestrations on stage and who, last year, published his confidences, My Memoirs, from dream to“Reality”, did not hesitate to play the columnists’ game by answering each of their questions, without any taboos! This “child of Stalin” as he defines himself, born in Bucharest in 1940, arrived in France in 1963 never to leave his host country again.

“Reality” sold more than 40 million copies worldwide!

In the columns of Point, in November 2022, the composer confided his love for his work: “Music is my life and I don’t work in order to make a career, to reach the Himalayas. It’s my everyday life and I try to work with as much pleasure as rigor. People often ask me what is my favorite music to compose; it’s complicated because I’ve always composed with the same intensity and the same desire to give the best of myself. And to add:And, sometimes, it happens that it gives La Boum and “Reality” sold over 40 million copies worldwide. Something crazy (…) I don’t have a recipe.”

And it is precisely about this mythical title of The partyperformed by Richard Sanderson, a Franco-Scotsman who became famous overnight, that the composer was interviewed on the set of TPMP People by Bernard Montiel. “My dear Vladimir, is it true that does it bring you more than 250,000 euros per year?”, asks him the replacement for Matthieu Delormeau. And without getting dismantled, the musician replies: “Listen, first you told me I didn’t have to answer” (general laughter). “But that shouldn’t be said!” replies, amused, the moderator. Vladimir Cosma resumes his host: “But I don’t see why, it’s no shame to answer and talking about money… doesn’t seem like a lot to me”. “But how long has it been going on?” the cut Bernard Montiel. And the 83-year-old man simply explains: “It’s one of the most played songs in the world so what is it… a footballer earns ten times more than that!”
