The initiative comes from the Intercollegiate Network of Sociocultural Activities of Quebec (RIASQ) and the Quebec Association of the Record, Entertainment and Video Industry (ADISQ).

Over the next few weeks, hundreds of CEGEP students will analyze the 25 titles in the running from a list compiled by ADISQ. The winner will win a $5,000 scholarship offered by the RIASQ. The artists selected all have two or fewer albums in their careers.

“It is the mission of the RIASQ to notably support Quebec’s cultural life and to promote the diversity of experiences. With this new project, we expose young people to local culture and we hope to give them a thirst for discovery and open their eyes to the richness of our music. They are invited to express their views, to argue, to debate in addition to significantly marking the career of an artist, ”said Maxime Burgoyne-Chartrand, director general of the RIASQ, in a press release on Monday.

“This new collaboration allows us to reach a select audience to promote local music. Allowing students to analyze the texts of our new artists while allowing them to develop their critical sense is an absolutely delightful and very promising opportunity for ADISQ for the future,” said Julie Gariépy, executive producer and director of the Galas. of ADISQ.
