Exciting Lineup for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 German Preliminaries
On February 4, RTL and NDR unveiled the 24 acts that will compete in Germany’s preliminary selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This diverse lineup promises an eclectic mix of musical styles, ranging from electronic and pop to rock, reggae, and metal, ensuring there’s something for every listener. The competition features a blend of fresh talent and experienced artists, some of whom are already familiar faces from television. Notably, the band ‘From Fall to Spring,’ which previously participated in the 2023 preliminaries, is back in the race.
Notable Contestants and Their Unique Sounds
‘From Fall to Spring,’ a band formed in 2008 in Saarland and comprised of identical twins Philip and Lukas, recently completed their first European tour showcasing their unique blend of modern rock, rap, and electronic music. “As lifelong ESC fans, we’ve always dreamed of captivating audiences across Europe with our energetic performances,” the band expressed.
Berlin’s Noah Levi, a 23-year-old singer known for winning ‘The Voice Kids’ at just 13, is set to return to the television stage with an original ESC song he crafted during a social media detox in Allgäu. He describes himself as a “determined, charismatic individual working diligently towards his aspirations.”
Another standout is Cloudy June, a 26-year-old queer artist from Berlin with Cuban heritage, who embodies alternative pop. She shares, “My music is authentic, emotional, and bold, striking a chord not just in Germany but globally—exactly what the ESC seeks.”
The Munich-based band COSBY has a rich performance history across multiple countries and has released four studio albums. They fuse alternative pop with electronic elements and express their desire to represent Germany, highlighting the ESC as a magnificent platform where diverse cultures unite through music.
Feuerschwanz, a band known for its medieval rock, folk, and metal since 2004, has evolved from medieval markets to performing at festivals and clubs throughout Europe. They emphasize their serious approach to music despite their humorous demeanor.
British singer-songwriter Moss Kena, who has shared the stage with stars like Rita Ora and Bastille, is also vying for a chance to represent Germany. With hit songs like ‘Fireworks’ and ‘Forgot How To Love,’ he is eager to help Germany reclaim its place at the top of the ESC leaderboard.
In addition to these artists, the competition features other talented performers, including the duo Parallel from Stuttgart, Abor & Tynna from Vienna, and several solo artists from cities like Hagen, Hamburg, and Cologne.
With a staggering 3,281 applications received, the selection process has been competitive. The chosen 24 acts will be showcased during three live shows on February 14, 15, and 22 on RTL, where the ‘Chefsache ESC 2025’ jury, including notable figures like Stefan Raab, Yvonne Catterfeld, and Elton, will evaluate the performances. The grand finale will air on March 1 on ARD, where viewers will have the opportunity to vote for the act that will represent Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel this May. All live shows will be hosted by the charismatic Barbara Schöneberger.
