23rd Mediterranean Musical Meetings

The Mediterranean Musical Meetings bring together young musicians from countries around the Mediterranean each year in Bastia and throughout Corsica: traditional music groups and classical orchestras, dance performances, voices from the other shore and instruments , intimate interpreters of the soul of the peoples they represent.

The rich and varied program will begin with an opening concert on Monday 7 November in Bastia, at the Alboru theatre, during which the classical ensembles of the Music Conservatories of Milan and Genoa will perform.

Then, throughout the week, concerts for young audiences will take place in the various schools of Bastia and rural municipalities and concerts for the general public will be held every evening in various local communities from Bastia to Bonifacio via Borgo. , Oletta, Luri, Ile Rousse, Ajaccio, Corte, Folelli, in the company of Corsican artists and musicians.

The gala evening will take place on Saturday, November 12 at 8:30 p.m., at the Théâtre Municipal de Bastia.

According to a well-established tradition, the evening will consist of 2 parts:

– First, the various groups of guest musicians will follow one another on stage to give the public an overview of the music of their country or the classical repertoire of their choice, in the company of Corsican artists and musicians,

– Then, under the direction of the talented Italian Maestro, Alessandro Bombonati and on arrangements by Alberto Intrieri, all the musicians will accompany in symphonic formation the final song “Corsica”, which will be interpreted by Petru Santu Guelfucci and formerly sung by his father, Petru Guelfucci, who died too soon.

The joy of being together is even greater when you know that all the concerts organized by the Association des Jeunesses Musicales de Méditerranée are given everywhere free of charge, with the rare exception indicated by the ticket office.
