Twenty-three CRS were injured in clashes with demonstrators who came to support Yvan Colona in Bastia, Ajaccio and Calvi on Wednesday March 9, at the start of the evening, announced the Haute-Corse prefecture. The independence activist is still in a coma, a week after being violently attacked by another prisoner at the Arles prison. In all, there are about forty injured.

In front of the prefecture in Bastia, “the forces of order suffered 95 molotov cockails, to which must be added agricultural bombs, iron balls, sling shots”, announces the prefecture in a press release. The firefighters took care of three injured people including a photographer from the newspaper Corsica Morning.

The rally also degenerated in Calvi. In addition to throwing molotov cocktails, the demonstrators broke windows of the sub-prefecture with stones. “This is the first time that the sub-prefecture of Calvi has been attacked in this way”notes the prefecture, before adding that “the prefect condemns this violence and calls on everyone to calm down”. The scuffles ended around 9:30 p.m. in the two cities. In Corse-du-Sud, the demonstration launched at 6:30 p.m. in Ajaccio left at least 14 injured, including a journalist, according to France Bleu RCFM.
