220 patients filed a complaint against the Philips group. Despite the alerts, Philips is suspected of having continued to use a potentially carcinogenic foam to equip their respirators, devices used against sleep apnea.

A Philips brand respirator, used to combat sleep apnea, is at the heart of a case. Christophe Madelon used it for nearly two years. Quite quickly, he noticed undesirable effects.I woke up about ten times a night, with a parched throat, (…) red eyes, itchy throat (…)“, he describes. In question, a polyurethane foam integrated into the respirator.

The foam is suspected of releasing toxic particles. Thus, 220 people filed a complaint against Philips. Me Christophe Lèguevaques, lawyer, reveals that a toxicologist has well established the carcinogenic nature of respirators. Several people would have died. For its part, the industrial giant claims that these devices comply with safety rules. The plaintiffs want Philips to recognize its wrongdoing.
