In a note sent on Friday June 14 to the prefects, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, encourages them to be “particularly attentive to the protection of people and property to guarantee, tactfully but firmly, republican order.”
The ministry fears, “in this pre-election period”of the “serious disturbances to public order”particularly linked to clashes “violent” between “the ultra-right” And “the ultra-left”. 2,700 individuals considered to be on the ultra-right and 5,500 on the ultra-left are monitored by the ministry.
Gérald Darmanin reminds us that prefects can “go as far as being banned” demonstrations “if the conditions appear appropriate.”
