Among the 25 Casino stores which had not yet found a buyer, 21 will permanently close their doors, France Bleu Saint-Étienne Loire learned on Sunday September 29, from a source close to the matter. Nearly a thousand people will be made redundant.
Dismissal letters are expected by the unions by mid-November at the latest, unless there is a last minute reversal. Buyers have until Monday September 30 to come forward.
These 25 stores have known since last spring that they are not part of the negotiations and transfers made with Auchan, Carrefour and Intermarché, as part of the restructuring carried out by the Saint-Etienne group, in great financial difficulty.
Here are the towns where the stores will go out of business, according to information from France Bleu Saint-Étienne Loire: Aurillac (Cantal), Brest (Finistère), Chauray (Deux-Sèvres), Chenove (Côte-d’Or ), Lannion (Côtes-d’Armor), Malemort (Corrèze), Malestroit (Morbihan), Marseille 14th (Bouches-du-Rhône), Moissac (Tarn-et-Garonne), Montceau-les-Mines (Saône-et- Loire), Montpellier (Hérault), Saint-Brieuc (Côtes-d’Armor), Saint-Doulchard (Cher), Saint-Jean-de-Losne (Côte-d’Or), Saint-Michel-sur-Orge (Essonne ), Torcy (Seine-et-Marne), Toulouse Basso Combo (Haute-Garonne), Valence (Drôme) and Valentigney (Doubs).
Four stores will survive: Agen (Lot-et-Garonne), Échirolles (Isère), Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) and Vénissieux (Rhône).
