Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau will summon 21 departmental prefects on October 1 to discuss immigration and possible improvements to removal procedures, franceinfo learned on Thursday, September 26 from a source within the ministry. According to this source, the 21 departments concerned by this summons currently represent 80% of removal measures in France.
The new Minister of the Interior had mentioned this meeting on Monday evening on TF1, saying he wanted “start by bringing together in a few days the ten prefects of the ten departments where there is the most migratory disorder to ask them to expel more, to regularize less”and ask them about possible “holes in the racket”.
