The group unveiled more details on its proposed candidacy on Tuesday. In particular, it plans to reuse many of the venues that hosted events at the 2010 Games in Vancouver, such as the Whistler Sliding Center and the Richmond Olympic Oval.
The proposal also calls for ski and snowboard events to be held at Sun Peaks, near Kamloops.
The costs of hosting the Olympics are expected to be released in July and a decision on whether to have a “focused dialogue” with the International Olympic Committee on the possibility of hosting the Games is to be made by December.
The Lil’wat, Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh nations announced the 1er February that they had signed an agreement with the City of Vancouver, the Resort Municipality of Whistler, the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Canadian Paralympic Committee to consider a bid.
This would be the first Aboriginal bid for the Olympics.
