2028 Olympics | Los Angeles announces venues for 19 sports

(Los Angeles) The Los Angeles 2028 Olympics organizing committee announced venues for 19 sports Friday, including open water events in Long Beach.


A city in southern Los Angeles County, Long Beach will host open water swimming and triathlon at Alamitos Beach, as well as sailing off Belmont Shore. Once announced in Lake Perris, about 60 miles to the east, rowing (as at the 1932 Games) and canoe sprinting will take place in the city’s “Marine Stadium.”

Northwest of Los Angeles, the golf will take place at Riviera Country Club, in the upscale Pacific Palisades neighborhood, located between Santa Monica and the hills of Topanga Park. The course hosts a PGA Tour tournament each year under the aegis of Tiger Woods and has previously hosted majors such as the US Open and the PGA Championship.

The Carson Sports Center (south of Los Angeles, north of Long Beach), where the LA Galaxy football club plays, will host rugby sevens, where a World Series tournament is held every year, tennis at the national center, field hockey, and track cycling at the velodrome.

THE ” hub » of downtown Los Angeles is enriched with badminton at the University of Southern California (USC), near the Coliseum where athletics will take place from the first week. Nearby, in the central business district “Downtown”, weightlifting joins the “theater” hall, while fencing, judo, table tennis, taekwondo and wrestling will take place at the convention center, right next to the Arena where gymnastics was already announced.
