March 2024 was the hottest March ever recorded on Earth, according to the Copernicus Institute. This is the tenth month in a row to break a heat record.

A heat record has been broken. According to the latest monthly report from the Copernicus Institute published Tuesday April 9, the month of March 2024 was the hottest month ever recorded on our planet. A situation that has been repeated since June 2023, i.e. ten consecutive months. “Climatic phenomena overlap. Global warming continues its global course. Greenhouse gases also continue to increase. The natural variability of the planetary climate also intervenes”explains Françoise Vimeux, climatologist at the Research Institute for Development.

The El Niño phenomenon

July 2023 remains the hottest month ever measured, with last year marked by the El Niño climate phenomenon. “The year 2023 broke many records. 2024 could follow knowing that generally the year following the El Niño event is the hottest period”believes François Vimeux.
