We are intrigued by… readingOthello by Didier Lucien

In spring 2025, Didier Lucien will direct Othello, in an adaptation by Jean-Marc Dalpé, with a powerful premise that risks sparking debate: “Is Shakespeare’s tragedy a racist play? “. The director – who says he has been meditating on this text for 30 years – wants to show “the discriminatory attitudes that a white majority exercises without even thinking about it towards black individuals”. Rodley Pitt will play the Venetian general; and Lyndz Dantiste, his second, Iago.
