2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 sets track record at Mosport

We regularly hear about new track records being set at the legendary Nürburgring in Germany, but what about the circuits closer to home?

A word about Chevrolet definitely needs to be slipped in, because its 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 recently completed the fastest lap for a production vehicle at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, better known as Mosport, in Bowmanville, Ontario.

In the hands of renowned driver Ron Fellows, a Corvette Z06 equipped with the Z07 performance package covered the 3.957 km of the circuit in just 1:22.12. Chevrolet shared a video of this record lap, captured on the Corvette’s optional performance data recorder:

“Setting a new lap record at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in the new Corvette Z06 is a monumental achievement for me,” said Fellows. This track holds a special place in my heart and I feel incredibly privileged to have done this in conjunction with Chevrolet and the Corvette team. »

“We heartily congratulate Ron Fellows on his incredible achievement,” said Chevrolet Brand Manager in Canada, James Hodge. Together, we’ve cemented Corvette’s position at the forefront of high-performance sports cars, and we’re very proud of this remarkable achievement. »

With 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, the 2023 Z06 was the fastest Corvette ever made before Chevrolet fought back with the hybrid-powered 2024 Corvette E-Ray. Its hand-assembled 5.5-liter engine is also the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever offered on the market in a production car.

The Z07 performance package in question includes a set of carbon fiber aerodynamic elements, an exclusive suspension, Michelin Sport Cup 2 R ZP tires designed specifically for the Z06 and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes with larger discs (398 mm at the front and 391 mm at the rear).
