The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has a long and prestigious heritage. First launched in 1963, it was at the time an optional special package for racing. Today, Chevrolet is bringing the Z06 back to the automotive scene with a new version based on the C8 generation.
Here are five things to know about the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
Functional aesthetics
Design-wise, the Z06 differs from the Corvette Stingray thanks to a wider rear track of 9.4 cm. In addition, the front and back have several elements that maximize the cooling of mechanical components.
The rims measure 20 inches at the front and 21 at the rear. The configurable spoiler optimizes grip on a track or when driving at high speed.
There are twelve body colors and six brake caliper colors to choose from. In addition, seven sets of wheels are available.
The most powerful Z06
The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is equipped with a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine that develops 670 horsepower at 8,400 rpm and 460 lb-ft of torque at 6,400 rpm. The mill generates 20 more horsepower, at the expense of less torque (650 lb-ft) compared to the older, supercharged 6.2-liter V8.
The engine block and pistons are aluminum, while the connecting rods are forged titanium. This sports car employs an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and rear-wheel drive.
Built for the track
The electronic limited-slip differential, the cannon starter function and the many driving modes such as Track mode are just some of the many technologies with which the driver can have fun.
Suspension Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 standard allows the rider to adjust the shock settings. Otherwise, to stick to the asphalt, this Corvette is fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S ZP tires.
Brembo brakes with six pistons up front, more than the Stingray’s four, make sure the car comes to a stop. Several options are available such as carbon fiber wheels.
Z07 set
Do you want more performance? The Z07 package adds a series of elements that will make driving even more radical. First, the aerodynamic carbon fiber group includes a diffuser at the front and a rear spoiler.
Moreover, the suspension Magnetic Ride is calibrated differently. Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes have larger front and rear discs. The tires found on the Z07 are Michelin Sport Cup 2 R ZP.
Cockpit interior
Following its racing origins, the Z06 2023’s cockpit focuses on the driver’s experience. Thus, the customer can choose from a range of options to enhance driving pleasure.
First, stylistically, seven interior colors are available. For the seat, three types of seats and six seat belts are listed in the catalog.
Regarding the materials, two sets in carbon fiber and one in aluminum are also available.
Production of the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will begin in the summer of 2022. Pricing will be announced closer to the market date.
