2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV: No US-Like Price Drops

After significantly reducing the price of the Chevrolet Bolt EV for 2022, by $6,800 in Canada, General Motors has decided to do the same for the 2023 model year… but not here.

Indeed, the Bolt EV as well as the Bolt EUV crossover are benefiting from significant price drops in the United States. We are talking about US$5,900 and US$6,300 respectively. In Canada, it’s the status quo.

“Chevrolet Canada is planning the pricing of its portfolio for its market based on the competitive EV landscape in Canada. The Bolt EV and Bolt EUV remain very competitively priced in Canada for customers looking for long-range, high-tech EVs at an affordable price,” the automaker explains in an email sent to Car Guide.

In short, Chevrolet does not see the need to once again lower the price of its two electric models in Canada in the current context. Only the Nissan LEAF, which has a much lower range (240-363 km instead of 417 km), is more affordable than the Chevrolet Bolt EV.

For 2023, it therefore remains offered in a single version called LT, which costs $38,198 plus related costs of $2,150. For its part, the Bolt EUV offers LT and Premier versions with suggested retail prices of $40,198 and $43,698 respectively.

By the way, all 2023 models receive a corrected battery like the approximately 142,000 2017 to 2022 units recalled by GM in connection with a design defect that could lead to a fire (more than a dozen cases had been listed).

The image of the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV has been tarnished a bit by this recall, but both remain excellent electric vehicles for their value for money and reliability. That said, as we discussed in a previous article, their future is uncertain, with GM preferring to bet on its next-generation models built on the Ultium platform, such as the future Chevrolet Silverado EV, Equinox EV and Blazer SS. Moreover, the last two will also sell at an affordable price, we are promised.
