A man from Montérégie had a nice surprise when he discovered a winning Célébration 2023 ticket in his Christmas decorations. So he pockets $50,000 a few days before the deadline to claim his prize.
It was on November 29 that Mathieu Labrie found his “scratcher” intact while he was taking Christmas decorations out of the boxes with his family. He quickly discovered that a prize of $50,000 was hidden in the note.
“He couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the $50,000 displayed on the screen! When Mr. Labrie presented himself to Loto-Québec, he had exactly 39 days left to claim his prize,” the state-owned company said in a press release.
The man in his thirties had received the ticket as a gift last year.
This money comes at an opportune time for the father who wants to spoil his loved ones for the holidays, in addition to renovating his house.
Remember that the Célébration 2024 gala will take place on January 7 and will be broadcast on TVA.
