The main political parties in Quebec have received thousands of dollars in fines in recent weeks for misplaced electoral signs, we have learned. The Press.
The Director General of Elections of Quebec (DGEQ) alleges that political parties committed 78 infractions regarding the placement of posters during last fall’s general elections. The problems were so numerous that they represented “significant issues in terms of public safety and respect for road signs”.
“During these elections, Élections Québec observed several irregularities in the electoral displays,” the organization indicated on Wednesday. “She also received more than 300 complaints regarding the location of certain electoral signs or the way in which they were installed. Each charge carries a minimum fine of $500 upon conviction or guilty plea.
