(Montreal) The Montreal Alouettes will kick off their 2022 season by visiting the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium on June 9.
The Canadian Football League unveiled its schedule for the next season on Thursday and this duel between the Montrealers and the Stampeders will kick off the league’s activities for 2022.
The Alouettes will play their home opener on June 23, with the Saskatchewan Roughriders visiting Percival-Molson Stadium.
The two-time defending Gray Cup champions Winnipeg Blue Bombers will visit Montreal on August 4. The Montreal squad will also face the Ottawa Rouge et Noir in the traditional Thanksgiving game.
Khari Jones’ men will end their season when they face the Toronto Argonauts at BMO Field on October 29.
While the 2021 CFL season has been shortened to 14 games due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the nine teams on the circuit are expected to play the usual 18 games scheduled.
The Blue Bombers will begin the defense of their Gray Cup titles when they host the Rouge et Noir on June 10. The rematch of the 2019 and 2021 CFL Finals takes place on June 24, with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats making a stop in Winnipeg.
The CFL will celebrate the 155e Canada’s birthday by hosting a game between the Edmonton Elks and the Tiger-Cats at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton. Labor Day clashes and the Banjo Bowl will also be scheduled.
The CFL playoffs kick off the first weekend in November. The section finals and the 109 will follow.e Gray Cup Final, to be held Nov. 20 at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, SK.

The 2022 season will strengthen the CFL’s commitment to player health and safety by continuing the league’s trend to provide more recovery time between games. In 2016, teams played with less than seven days off on 55 occasions. Since then that number has declined each season and in 2022 it will be reduced by 38, which is a decrease of 31% over a period of six campaigns.
