The only medical practice in the town of Septème, in Isère, will soon close, leaving thousands of patients without a doctor.
In Septème (Isère), the inhabitants of the commune and those of the neighboring villages have been receiving treatment for 35 years in the only medical practice, which will close its doors in a month. Thousands of patients find themselves without a solution. Up to ten doctors worked in the practice and the last three are stopping due to retirement, burnout and disability.
Françoise Teil, a 79-year-old patient, is worried: “I called everywhere, there is nothing, no one wants to take me. They are saturated”The future of the village pharmacy is also uncertain. “On an economic level, there will inevitably be repercussions,” assures Sylvain Berrux, co-manager of the Septème pharmacy. A teleconsultation booth should be installed. The closure of the office created strong tensions and the mayor was criticized for not helping to find replacements. For a year, he has approached mayors of other municipalities to create a multidisciplinary health center.
