Between 200 and 250 people gathered on Friday morning in Saint-Aubin-en-Bray, in Oise, west of Beauvais, in support of Vincent Verschuere, a dairy farmer sentenced on appeal in January 2022 to pay 100,000 euros to his neighbors for “abnormal neighborhood disturbance“, reports France Bleu Picardie. He is blamed for the noise and smell of his cows, a conflict that has been going on for ten years now.

The call to demonstrate was launched by the FNSEA. “When the situation of Vincent Verschuere and his family was mentioned at the congress not long ago, the whole room rose to give their support“, explains Christiane Lambert. The president of the FNSEA was therefore at the head of the procession “as all French farmers to say that we do not accept that such a decision could jeopardize a farm.“

She adds : “Agriculture is a living activity, when you have cows, sheep, pigs, there are times when there are noises, smells. So we can’t come to the Salon de l’agriculture, rejoice, say great the countryside comes to the city and when we come to the countryside, want it sanitized with zero defects, zero noise, zero smell.”
The Verschuere family had all the authorizations to set up their building. So this decisionhas a totally incomprehensible side. Above all, I expect justice to be reasonable“, adds Christiane Lambert.
