200 people gathered in tribute to Jocelyne Leclaire

Relatives, former colleagues… This Saturday, 200 people gathered in Amnéville (Moselle) in tribute to Jocelyne Leclaire, a 64-year-old woman killed by her companion.

“Someone with an always soft voice, very smiling” remembers one of the participants in this tribute. Another former colleague from the PSA factory explains that the victim participated in company banquets and outings with colleagues. All are also shocked by the discovery of the body, thrown in several parts in thickets: “We don’t understand how he could have done so much harm to someone so nice. It’s unimaginable, how can you do that to someone? We can’t admit it,” confides a relative.

“This man did not know how to respect the remains of Jocelyne”

Francine was her colleague for 19 years, she went with her to the swimming pool, or walked her dog at Fort de Queuleu, and she is still struck by this violent disappearance: “It was a shock for everyone, what happened is something really unforgivable. The fact of being there is also to go up to this man who did not know how to respect the remains of Jocelyne, that Jocelyne existed in the hearts of many people”.

Fight against feminicides

In the square in front of the town hall, Xavier Dieudonné who organized the gathering with the support of the family speaks: “More broadly, through our presence, it is a question of expressing our mobilization against violence against women. 113 feminicides in 2020 and already far too many in 2022. Stéphanie Di Vincenzo in May 2021 in Hayangeremember. Muriel Pinchi-Marchetti, killed under the blows of her spouse not far from here, in Labry, a few weeks ago. Difficult to name all the victims. Let’s never forget, there are also all those who suffer, in silence, stifling their cries”.

While many participants are also asking for a firm response to justice, Alyson Blondy, vice-president of the National Federation of Victims of Femicide, explains that this is also one of the association’s fights: “Already, we have a lot of work to do on awareness and prevention. Then, when we have reports of women who are victims of violence, there must be a much more thorough follow-up. And then, we must also much heavier penalties for the perpetrators, because today we realize that there are still weaknesses at this level”.

The shock in the neighborhood

In the crowd also, neighbors, who explain that they think of Jocelyne as soon as they leave their home and see the house, still under seal. One of them collected the flowers brought to the demonstration, to deposit them in front of the house of the victim.

The participants who had brought flowers came to give them to a neighbor to leave in front of the victim's house.
