About 2.4 tonnes of cannabis resin were discovered in Yvelines on Wednesday May 10, franceinfo learned from concordant sources, partially confirming information from the Parisian.

The drugs were discovered in a truck that was in the town of Flins-sur-Seine, a source familiar with the matter told franceinfo. The vehicle was brought back by the police to the police station in Les Mureaux – a neighboring town – where the investigators weighed the cannabis resin.

Three men in their thirties have been in custody since the morning of Wednesday May 10. The departmental security of Yvelines is seized of the investigation.

Such a quantity of drugs seized is relatively rare. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin visited Le Mureaux on Wednesday afternoon. “In a few days, the Yvelines police managed to make an almost record seizure of cannabis”he greeted, evoking a “market value of more than twenty million euros”.

“Since January 1, 42 tonnes of cannabis have been seized on national territory and eleven tonnes of cocaine. This is the start of an absolutely record year”, he added.
