1,900 homes without electricity in Yonne, 900 in Ardèche

The violent storms that crossed France on Thursday July 11th, strongly affected the region of Sénonais, near Sens, in Yonne, and deprived 1,900 homes of electricity according to a report by Enedis, reports France Bleu Auxerre.

According to Météo89, ten millimeters of water fell in just six minutes and a wind gust of 85 km/h was recorded. “Significant damage” were provoked in Sens, with many “trees lying on the ground”reports France Bleu. “Not everything will be restored overnight”Enedis warned on Thursday evening, but 400 homes were able to be restored remotely.

In Ardèche, the stormy episode that occurred in the late afternoon caused power cuts in nearly 900 homes in the North Ardèche, reports France Bleu Drôme Ardèche. At 10 p.m. on Thursday evening, nearly 400 customers were still without power.

Currently eight departments are on orange alert for storms. These are Tarn, Aveyron, Lot, Tarn-et-Garonne, Haute-Garonne, Lozère, Cantal and Haute-Loire.
