A 19-year-old suspect was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention for the murder on Wednesday of a 14-year-old teenager in Saint-Denis, the Bobigny prosecutor’s office announced on Sunday January 21. This is one of two violent deaths of young people in this town of Seine-Saint-Denis this week.
Early Wednesday evening, a 14-year-old schoolboy from Saint-Denis, named Sedan, was stabbed to death on the metro platform at the Basilique de Saint-Denis station, on line 13. “No link seems to exist in the state of the investigations between this murder” and the death of another teenager from Saint-Denis, seriously injured during a brawl on Wednesday morning and who succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, said the public prosecutor of Seine-Saint-Denis, Eric Mathais.
In reaction to these two murders in the space of one day, the mayor of Saint-Denis, Mathieu Hanotin (PS), announced additional security measures in schools. “I want to send this message to parents : Monday, all schools will be secure”promised the chosen one.
