This Saturday morning, January 15, an 18-year-old exiled Sudanese died after falling from a truck. The accident took place around 8 a.m. in the Transmarck business area, near Calais, known to be an area where migrants often try to get into trucks to reach the United Kingdom.
According to the Boulogne-sur-Mer prosecutor’s office, the young man fell while trying to climb on the heavyweight, and “was run over by this truck“. On December 20, a 16-year-old Sudanese man died under similar conditions, at the same place.
The driver did not stop
An investigation is open, “in particular to identify the driver of the truck and find his registration“because the latter, “who may not have noticed the fall of the migrant, did not stop“, said the prosecution to AFP.
He is the second migrant to die trying to reach England in two days. This Friday, January 14, a young migrant in his twenties died off Berck-sur-Mer as he attempted to cross the English Channel. He was in the water when help arrived. 33 other castaways were rescued.
