An 18-year-old young man was stabbed in the borough of Ville-Marie, early Sunday morning, after a conflict that would have degenerated in the middle of the street. Montreal police have opened an investigation, but no suspects have yet been arrested.
The facts occurred around 3:25 a.m., when a call was made to 911 for a man who had been seriously injured on the public highway, at the corner of Sainte-Catherine and Saint-Hubert streets.
Arrived on the spot, the first patrol officers found that the victim, an 18-year-old man, had been injured in the upper body by a stab, probably a knife.
Rushed to a hospital center, the young man was out of danger at the start of the day. “What we understand of the event so far with the information obtained from witnesses, is that it is a conflict which would have degenerated between at least two individuals. No arrests have been made at this time,” said agent Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the SPVM.
“The victim is uncooperative, so our investigators will have to try by other means to understand the circumstances of this event,” added Ms.me Dubuc.
Witnesses could therefore be probed and video tapes from nearby surveillance cameras should be viewed by law enforcement.
