Météo France has placed 18 departments of the East and the Massif Central on orange vigilance for thunderstorms, Sunday October 23, evoking “moving, potentially severe thunderstorms” Sunday afternoon and evening, with a “risk of violent gusts, heavy rainfall and hail”.

The departments concerned are Ain, Cantal, the department of Côte-d’Or, Doubs, Jura, Loire, Haute-Loire, Haute-Marne, the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle, Moselle, Puy-de-Dôme, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Rhône, Haute-Saône, Saône-et-Loire, Vosges and Territoire de Belfort.

According to Meteo France, “These potentially violent storms will be localized and will only affect limited geographical areas”. It is likely that in many places put on orange alert, the risk of thunderstorms does not materialize, adds the organism. However, “where the storms will form”they “are likely to be accompanied by violent gusts of wind that can exceed 100 km / h, large hail and high intensities of precipitation. Electrical activity may be temporarily strong”.
