17th German-language film festival Augenblick kicks off

Tomorrow starts a great festival in Alsace, let’s take a moment to talk about the Augenblick festival, since that’s what it means: the moment. Initiated in 2005 by the RECIT (Eastern Cinema Image and Transmission Network), the AUGENBLICK Festival promotes the best of German-speaking cinema while promoting the Franco-German bilingualism cultivated in Alsace. At regional, national and European level, AUGENBLICK supports the audiovisual economy and the distribution of rare films. And speaking of rare moments, the guest of honor is Hanna Schygulla, the muse of Fassbinder, who offers her her greatest roles in The Marriage of Maria Braun, in 1978, and in Lili Marleen in 1981. She also has filmed for Ettore Scola, Jean-Luc Godard, and Marco Ferreri, with whom she obtained the prize for female interpretation in 1983 in Cannes. This 17th edition of the festival will of course include feature film competitions, a short film competition, a retrospective on Fritz Lang, with for once not M le maudit, but the Diabolical Doctor Mabuse, adventure films like the Tiger of the Bengal or the Hindu Tomb. Moreover, in this last film, there is a cult dance scene of actress Debra Paget facing a cobra. The whole program can be found on the festival site tiret augenblick point fr, it is until November 26th.
