The gendarmerie of Marignier-Saint-Jeoire (Haute-Savoie) arrested on Tuesday August 16 a 17-year-old minor suspected of having committed several sexual assaults on a cycle path crossing the municipalities of Thyez and Marignier. The young man was arrested while he was targeting a gendarme in civilian clothes, intervening within the framework of a surveillance device, announced Thursday August 18 the public prosecutor of Bonneville in a press release.
The arrest of the suspect follows several complaints filed for acts of sexual assault. According to the testimonies of the victims, their attacker would have repeatedly committed “touching the chest or buttocks” from his bike between June and August. Searches were initiated by gendarmes on foot, by bicycle or by car. And a surveillance device has been set up by the brigade to catch him in the act.
The wanted young man was spotted and arrested on the bike path in question. Placed in police custody, the young minor was identified by eight complainants, said the prosecutor. He also admitted to having committed all the facts, stating that he regretted his actions. The prosecutor invites any victims who have not yet come forward to report to the gendarmerie to file a complaint if they wish.
