17% of Israeli soldiers who died in the Gaza Strip were killed by their own army

In detail, almost two thirds of the deaths, 18 in total, are linked to “friendly fire”, shots coming from their own camps, two to exceptional fires and nine to accidents: tanks rolling over soldiers who They hadn’t seen collapsing walls or errors in the handling of explosives.

From total war to war of attrition

Since the start of the offensive launched after the Hamas attacks on October 7, between three and six soldiers have died each week, according to the Israeli army. A communication that stands out while the government insists: the conflict is not over. But it will certainly turn into a war of attrition rather than an all-out war, according to military experts. The spokesperson for the Israeli army also announced on Sunday, December 31, that reservists would get real breaks to prepare for prolonged combat.
