The day after the explosion of an apartment in a building in Aubervilliers in Seine-Saint-Denis, on Friday March 4, the shock gave way to solidarity in the municipality. The human toll has not changed: three people were hospitalized in serious condition without their vital prognosis being engaged, 19 others are slightly injured.
The André-Karman gymnasium quickly opened its doors to residents who found themselves on the street in the middle of the night. A temporary solution, since a decree of danger was taken by the town halland not less than 17 families have since been homeless.
Relocation to a hotel before a more permanent solution
So many families that had to be rehoused in an emergency. All are currently at the hotel.. Eight families who lived at 101, rue André-Karmanthe building victim of the explosion, and 9 others, who lived in the adjoining building whose structure was greatly weakened by the explosion. For the latter, the situation is special since the building belongs to the Office Public de l’Habitat d’Aubervilliers.
It is therefore the OPH services that are currently working to find rehousing solutions in their housing stock, as explained by the mayor of Aubervilliers Karine Franclet: “A lot of work is being done at the moment to count the accommodation and ensure the composition of the families to find a solution for them within the Office as quickly as possible.“.
The building which suffered the explosion, on the other hand, falls within the private sector since it belongs to different owners.. The 8 tenant families will therefore have to find a more permanent solution with their landlord. In the meantime, these families, some of which consist of several children, are temporarily taken care of at the hotel. They are warm, and benefit from meals, a few days at leastthe time to breathe after this terrible explosion which woke them up in the middle of the night.
Regarding the investigation, the central laboratory of the police prefecture favors for the time being the gas leak scenario.
