It’s a new summit finish. A hilly 173.5-kilometre course between Logrono and the Alto de Moncalvillo awaits the riders on the route of the 19th stage of the Vuelta, Friday 6 September. After passing the Puerto de Pradilla (3rd category), the peloton will have a date with the final ascent of the Alto de Moncalvillo (8.6 kilometres at an average of 9%, with passages of more than 10% in the last kilometres).
The field should host a new fight between the favorites for the final victory. Primoz Roglic (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe), although less imperial in recent days, could choose to attack a suffering Ben O’Connor (AG2R-Decathlon) who now only has a 5-second lead. Unless another leader, like Enric Mas or the dynamite Richard Carapaz, tries to pull his weight.
