15,000 people gathered in Paris in support of the Palestinians, according to the police headquarters

Some 15,000 people gathered on Sunday October 22 on Place de la République in Paris to demand an end to Israel’s military operations in Gaza, according to the police headquarters. The participants in this rally multiplied pro-Palestinian slogans on the occasion of this first Parisian demonstration not to have initially been the subject of a ban by the police headquarters.

Present at the gathering, the MP for La France insoumise, Aurélie Trouvé, for her part reported on the social network (ex-Twitter) with more than 30,000 participants. At the initiative of the gathering, the collective “For a just and lasting peace between Palestinians and Israelis” displayed a banner at the foot of the statue of the Republic, calling on France to “request an immediate ceasefire” And “stop the massacre in Gaza”.

The CGT, FSU, La France Insoumise, the Solidaires trade union, the France-Palestine-Solidarité association, the Mrap, the collective of Muslims of France and the French Jewish Union for Peace are among the forty member organizations of the collective. During the rally, a speaker called for new mobilization on Saturday. In addition, ten people were arrested, in particular for anti-Semitic remarks and tags on the statue of the Republic, according to the prefecture.
