Already 7,000 hectares have burned since Tuesday. “Unfortunately, the fire is starting up again, so it’s not over“, laments Jean-Marc Pelletant. “Tomorrow, we will have even more, the days go by and are alike.“

The mayor of Landiras pays tribute to the firefighters, “who spent the night fighting the fire. They are our saviors“. He insists on staying”optimistic” and do “trust” to the firefighters. He also wishes to emphasize that, “out of all the districts, hamlets, villages, which were crossed by the flames, no house burned”.
Regarding the criminal thesis favored by the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office for the Landiras fire, the mayor considers that “it’s premature“. He reminds that there is “an investigation team that is on site. Let them do their job. I want to hear it’s criminal. But I don’t have any proof or anything. Let the investigations be done“.
Jean-Marc Pelletant finally recalls that the town has already known “in 1949” a fire “which left Landiras and went to the ocean, with 80 dead. It was a tragedy”. “People know, people have the memory”, adds the mayor.
