150 billion investment plan | Hydro-Québec launches a consultation and will tour the regions

Hydro-Québec wants to know what the population thinks of its action plan which provides for massive investments of 150 billion to increase its production and transmission capacity of electricity.


An online consultation was launched on Thursday, in the form of a questionnaire covering the quality of service, the reduction in consumption and the planned increase in production.

A tour of the regions is also on the agenda for Hydro-Québec leaders, who want to meet representatives of municipalities and regional organizations. The state corporation also wants to consult specialists from the energy, environment, agriculture and business sectors to find out their point of view.

Hydro-Québec also wants to “meet the First Nations and the Inuit” to develop an economic reconciliation plan, establish partnerships and share the benefits associated with energy projects.”

“Throughout the winter, we want to hear the ideas and solutions that people have in mind regarding the realization of this plan,” said the CEO of Hydro-Québec, Michael Sabia, in the press release announcing this consultation.

The result of this work should be made public in the spring.
