15 deputies, from LFI to Renaissance, will table a bill to “protect the editorial freedom of the media”

15 deputies from all political groups, with the exception of the Republicans (LR) and the National Rally (RN), will table a bill “aimed at protecting the editorial freedom of media seeking state aid“, says the environmental group in a press release. This “transpartisan parliamentary work“, in reaction to the strike at the Journal du Dimanche (JDD), is indeed launched by one of its members, the deputy Sophie Taillé-Polian.

This bill must be filed by 6 p.m., Monday July 17, the environmental group told Agence Radio France. Concretely, sheaims to condition direct and indirect press aid on the establishment of a right of approval for journalists on the appointment of their editorial director“, according to the press release.

The appointment as head of the JDD of Geoffroy Lejeune, from the far-right weekly Current values, is the starting point of the strike affecting the weekly. She entered her fourth week on Friday.
