15.6 million viewers, less than in 2017

The French were less numerous Wednesday evening in front of their television than during the debate of 2017. According to Médimétrie, nearly 15.6 million viewers watched the confrontation between Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron, both candidates for the presidential election. A figure down from the debate five years ago: in 2017, 16.5 million people watched it. These figures are calculated by adding the audiences of all the channels that broadcast the debate: TF1, France 2, organizing channels, as well as the news channels and the parliamentary channels.

In total, the debate totaled an audience share of 68.3%, all channels combined. TF1 and France 2 alone gathered 14.05 million viewers (61.4% audience share), a score also lower than in 2017 (15.1 million then).
