There are more than 14,000, or nearly 3% of classes. According to a press release from the Ministry of National Education published on Friday January 14, 14,380 classes are closed, compared to 9,202 last week, due to the very large number of cases of students positive for Covid-19, and faced with the explosion of Omicron, the absence of teachers or staff.
In all, this represents 331,715 students who tested positive, a figure which is based solely on voluntary declarations by those concerned and is probably very underestimated. As for National Education staff, more than 25,500 people have also reported a Covid-19 infection.
Nationwide, at least 226 schools are completely closed out of 59,650, which represents 0.38% of public and private school structures under contract.
